Privacy Policy

Mafia CT is a companion app for in-person social deduction games, operated at mafiact.app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

When you sign in to the web app: your name, email address, and account identifier, provided by Google when you choose to sign in with it. We do not receive or store your Google password.

When you join the early access list: your email address, an optional display name, which mobile platform you use, and whether you opted into pre-release test builds. We also generate and store a promotional code tied to your email.

When you use the app: the group you belong to, the player names you add to your roster, and the scenarios you create. Player names on a roster are typed by a host and may refer to people who do not have an account.

Automatically: basic, aggregated usage analytics collected by Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not build a profile of individual visitors. We also set one session cookie so that you stay signed in.

To let you sign in, to keep your group's rosters and scenarios available across sessions, to email you once when the mobile app beta opens, and to honour the free month offered to people on the early access list.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

We use a small number of service providers who store or process data on our behalf: Appwrite (authentication), MongoDB Atlas (database), and Vercel (hosting and privacy-preserving analytics). Google handles authentication when you sign in with a Google account.

Data is stored on servers in the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred there.

Account and gameplay data is kept while your account is active. Early access list entries are kept until the mobile app has launched and the promotional offer has been honoured or has expired, after which they are deleted.

If you join the early access list, we will email you when the beta opens and when the app launches. We do not send marketing email beyond that, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe.

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or remove you from the early access list, and we will action it. Every email we send includes a link to unsubscribe and to request deletion.

If you are a host, please only add roster names for people who are comfortable being listed. Anyone can ask us to remove a roster name that refers to them.

Mafia CT is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We will update this page when our practices change, and we will change the date at the top. If a change is significant and we have your email address, we will tell you directly.

A dedicated contact address for privacy requests is being set up and will be published here before the mobile app launches. In the meantime, requests can be made through the group admin who invited you.
